During our journey in life, we often come to major moments in the “road” where we have to make a decision. We come across crossroads and bridges that lead us to places that we’re yet to know the outcome of.
The other day, someone from my Facebook tribe asked this very question on my New Moon in Aries tarot post. And I wanted to share the wisdom that I share with them, but break it down a bit further into 5 tips. While I take you on this journey, I want you to image that you’re walking along a path, strolling through your journey. As you see the bridge approaching, consider the following aspects.
Often times, the fear of the unknown is what keeps our feet planted on “this” side of the bridge. When you envision your bridge, does it seem too far to cross? Too high? Is there fog clouding the rest of the way? Sometimes, not being able to see the other side can make us question ourselves.
So take a look around you as you walk down your path. What stands out to you? What do you see that immediately makes you wonder why it’s even there? Is there anything that’s holding you back? If so, what is it? Taking a deeper look at what is surrounding you will give you an idea of what you might be afraid of letting go of. This could be a potential situation you’re in, business you’re running, a relationship, etc. What would happen to these things if you crossed the bridge?
After you’ve figured out where your fear is coming from, look at what you can let go of so that you can progress and take that first step onto the bridge. As you’re on your path, things might be trying to stick to you, while other things allow you to continue past. What is sticking to you? What is refusing to allow you to move on?
These are things to consider when you are moving toward the bridge to your future: what or who is trying to keep you from moving on? This could be past trauma, a person who doesn’t want to see you succeed, or even a job that underappreciates you. Another thing to consider is YOURSELF. Are you holding yourself back? Are there parts of you that you can let go of so that you can step into your purpose?
Take some time to yourself to get quiet and be still with your thoughts. Even 5 minutes will make a difference. Imagine that you are now across the bridge. What does it look like on the other side? How does it feel?
When you visualize it, see it in your mind, you’re telling Spirit that you want to receive what is on the other side of the bridge. This opens you up to be more receptive and prepares you to take the first step onto the bridge. After you’ve completed your visualization, write it down! Write as much or as little as your heart contends, but make sure you write it down. The physical act of writing will allow you to commit this visualization to memory.

Sometimes, we keep ourselves rooted because we can’t imagine taking that first step. But once you’ve taken at least ONE step, you’ll find that it’ll get easier to make more. Crossing the bridge takes complete faith. While taking just one step won’t guarantee that you’ll see what’s on the other side, it’ll still move you forward and toward your future.
As long as you take at least ONE step, you’re letting Spirit know that you’re ready to continue on your path. You’re ready to leave what is “comfortable” so that you can step into your purpose.
When you’re sick, you go to the doctor. When you need legal help, you find a lawyer. So when you’re in need of Spiritual help and can’t do it yourself, you turn to a spiritual guide. You can have a tarot reading to clarify what you need to let go of and how to move forward. You can have someone read for you, or you can read for yourself. In essence, you’ll still be going to Spirit for the answers you need.
However, sometimes we are too close to the subject to see things clearly. That’s when having an outside perspective to tell us the truth matters. So if all else fails and you still can’t figure out how to move forward, I suggest seeking out someone who can go to Spirit on your behalf and advise you on what to do.
Tarot Spread
If you are in hopes of working through this yourself and want to do a tarot spread, I have created one just for this purpose. When creating this spread, I was literally waiting at the proverbial bridge, wondering if I had the courage to take the first step into the unknown.
What was on the other side? I had no clue, but I knew that if I didn’t do something, that the bridge would disappear and I’d have to find another way around.
Are you at the bridge? Ready to cross over but feeling a sense of fear? Then this spread will help clear up the fog, so that with guidance from Spirit, you can have an idea of what you need to release so that you can cross over into your future.
